Four Killed as Private Bus Collides with Motorcycle in Parbhani; Multiple Road Accidents and Vehicle Fires Reported Across Maharashtra

A fatal bus–motorcycle collision in Parbhani killed four people, followed by additional road accidents in Beed and vehicle fires in Thane that left several injured and caused widespread concern. Police have arrested a bus driver under negligence laws, while investigations continue across all incidents in Maharashtra.

A devastating road accident in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district claimed four lives after a private passenger bus collided with a motorcycle near Manwath town on Friday night, while a series of other road crashes and vehicle fires across the state added to a day marked by tragedy and disruption, police said on Saturday, according to PTI.

In the Parbhani incident, a Pune-bound private bus collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, leaving the two-wheeler completely mangled, an official said. The victims were identified as Shubham Apparao Dahe (30), Vishnu Gore (28), Prahlad Ashokrao Kute (29), and Navnath Shamrao Jadhav (38). All four died on the spot due to the severity of the impact.

The official stated that the condition of some of the bodies was so severely damaged that identification was initially difficult. The remains were later transferred to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.

Following the crash, locals gathered at the scene after hearing the loud impact. Tensions escalated when an agitated crowd allegedly vandalised the private bus, causing brief disruption to traffic movement on the Parbhani–Pathri Highway, officials confirmed.

According to officials, a car carrying four occupants collided with a motorcycle carrying two riders, resulting in the death of one two-wheeler rider at the spot. The injured individuals were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police further stated, based on statements from victims, that the car overturned four times. A detailed investigation into the incident is underway.

Meanwhile, in Thane city, two separate fire incidents involving a car and a truck were reported early Tuesday, in which five people narrowly escaped unhurt, officials said.

In the first incident, a car carrying four friends caught fire at 4:06 am near Saket Bridge on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway while travelling from Kalyan bypass towards Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road. Regional Disaster Management Cell Chief Yasin Tadvi said that upon noticing smoke and flames, the driver immediately pulled the vehicle to the roadside, allowing all occupants to escape safely. The vehicle suffered extensive damage before fire brigade personnel extinguished the blaze by 4:54 am.

In another incident at 4:33 am, a parked truck caught fire near Ambeghosale Lake at Castlemill Naka, damaging the driver’s cabin. Fire brigade and disaster management teams brought the situation under control by 5:05 am. No injuries were reported in either fire incident, and investigations are ongoing to determine their causes.

The series of fatal collisions and sudden vehicle fires highlights ongoing road safety concerns and emergency response challenges across Maharashtra, as authorities continue separate investigations into each incident.
